In 2013, Katie took up the post of Deputy Editor on LiveTheatre.co, contributing with reviews and features. Alongside this, she reviewed theatre for FourthWall Magazine, and continued to build her readership on her own blog. Since then, Katie has been approached and commissioned by a number of well known publications, including The Stage, WhatsOnStage.com and British Airways High Life Magazine.

Alongside her creative endeavours, Katie also earns a crust as a copywriter, writing high quality B2C content for a variety of websites.

Teaching

Katie has been a freelance drama teacher since 2011 when she became a teaching assistant supporting students with learning difficulties and disabilities at the City and Islington College. Katie has since ably and imaginatively run weekend and holiday drama courses and after school clubs for a wide range of performing arts companies, such as Living the Dream, Perform, Sense Theatre, After School Arts and Stagecoach.

In 2014, Katie was one of the founding staff members at the newly launched A*Stars Theatre Academy in Bedfordshire, catering for students aged between 5-17. She has directed two showcases and full length productions of Bugsy Malone and Annie for the academy.

Katie also regularly designs and delivers one-off drama workshops for both Primary and Secondary schools at an extremely competitive price to complement the study of a wide range of subjects. Past workshop themes have included Martin Luther King's 'I Have A Dream' speech, Romeo and Juliet and Harry Potter. If you are interested in Katie designing a bespoke workshop for your students, please use the contact page to send her an email. >

Katie has been delivering drama workshops/classes at A-Stars Dance & Theatre Academy for over 5 years. She is now our resident drama teacher at our weekly theatre academy in Luton, Bedfordshire. She delivers sessions for children aged 5-18 years old and is a extremely popular and respected member of the faculty. Her sessions are structured, engaging and relevant to their participants at all times and her conscientious attitude ensures a high level of delivery. She has delivered and demonstrated a wide range of skills from improvisation tasks through to co-directing our annual musicals at the local theatre. The kids at the academy absolutely love her and she is an integral member of my team! .

Ami Henderson, Director, A*Stars Dance and Theatre Academy

Living the Dream has hired Katie on numerous occasions – to run various after school clubs, classes, workshops and teach drama and musical theatre. She is a very strong teacher and has a great rapport with the students. The content she uses in her sessions is brilliant and she always proves to be a reliable, enthusiastic and hard working teacher; one we are pleased to have in our realms and who is a great pleasure to work with. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone else!

Zoe Jackson, Founder and Managing Director, Living the Dream Company

I was taught by Katie for a year at A*Stars Theatre Academy. Katie's lessons were brilliant and a joy to be in. I was in Bugsy Malone plus two showcases all directed by Katie, and I had the best time doing them! She was both an amazing teacher and an amazing person to be around and without her help I wouldn't have been able to go on to study drama at higher education, so I am very grateful for all she has done and taught me in my skills for drama.

Ella Richards - age 16, past student of A*Stars Theatre Academy

Young Enterprise hired Katie to run a series of vocal warm-up flash sessions for young people at our UK Company Programme Finals at the BFI Southbank. Katie was a consummate professional who had the room up on their feet and enjoying themselves within minutes. She knows exactly what she is doing and was able to make even the most shy person engage in her sessions. She was a joy to work with and we will definitely be booking her again!

Amrita Devaiah, Events Manager, Young Enterprise

Katie visited the RSA Academy in May 2015 to deliver a drama workshop to a group of 'Gifted and Talented' year 7 pupils. She ran an imaginative and engaging workshop around Romeo and Juliet. The students loved the session and we full of praise for her. They thoroughly enjoyed the content of the workshop, and her lively delivery. We are arranging for her to return for further workshops because we have been so impressed with the quality of her work. Amazing!

Selected Theatre Reviews
Ordinary Days, Rosemary Branch Theatre
Musical Theatre Review

"The highlight of the show, though, is the outstanding Katie Brennan as the bodacious Deb – you could feel the audience rise in their seats (in a good way) when she first began to sing, giving a performance demanding to be heard. This is one actress who surely has a great career ahead of her."

West End Wilma

"Katie Brennan is the star of the show as Deb, with her hilarious comedy songs. She has real power in her voice and delivers the comical lines with pizzaz"

Official Theatre

"Brennan is especially impressive, her soaring vocals and fantastic ability to characterise Deb made her a cut above the rest."

So So Gay

"…it's Katie Brennan as Deb who stands out the most. Brennan's energy is infectious and her characterisation intelligent thought out. It feels as though Deb's songs are the funniest, and the other three characters aren't given numbers that pack quite the same punch, or it could be that Brennan has elevated her songs to a different level – but nonetheless she's extremely enjoyable to watch throughout."

Before the Night is Through, The Landor Theatre
Musical Theatre Review

"Katie Brennan, as west country housemaid Mabel Gumm, is outstanding. Combining excellent comic timing, consistent energy and clarity from the outset, Brennan's pint-sized Mabel is both completely loveable AND completely ridiculous."

FourthWall

"Katie Brennan must be congratulated for her comical performance as the charmingly dithering Mabel, delivering Thompson's Monty Python-esque one-liners with perfect timing and finesse."

West End Frame

"Kate Brennan's impeccable delivery is hysterical and the perfect recipe for a comical dream."

Song of the Single Girl, The Union Theatre
The Gizzle Review
The Glorious Ones, The Landor Theatre
Curtain Up

"the star of the show is Katie Brennan as Columbina, whose comic vivacity in Act One is matched by emotional oomph in Act Two, with her haunting torch song 'My Body Wasn't Why."

The Public Reviews

"Kate Brennan's beautifully buxom performance swells with personality and panache."

Indie London

"Kate Brennan created a saucy, fun and audacious Columbina with a golden voice and excellent comic timing…."

British Theatre Guide

"Kate Brennan is Columbina, courtesan turned leading lady and wife; Ms Brennan is equally successful at being brash and curvily sexy as she is being intensely moving with her rendition of "And My Body Wasn't Why".

Front Row Dress

"Kate Brennan as Columbina is perfect as the world-weary former courtesan whose hardened heart still has the capacity to be broken and her second act number outlining a life of unrealised dreams, My Body Wasn't Why, had me in tears."
